Fresh meat, proper butchery and useful advice from the counter.
At Stuart Lowen Quality Butcher & Farm Shop, our butcher’s counter is at the heart of the shop.
We offer quality meat, sausages, bacon, poultry, game, roasting joints and everyday cuts for family meals, weekend cooking and special occasions.
Whether you know exactly what you need or want advice on the right cut, quantity or cooking method, speak to the team in store or call ahead to place an order.

Fresh meat for everyday meals and special occasions
From midweek dinners to Sunday roasts, BBQs and family gatherings, we stock a practical range of quality meat and butcher’s favourites.
You’ll usually find fresh beef, pork and lamb, poultry, sausages, burgers, bacon, roasting joints, steaks, chops, BBQ cuts, kebabs and game when in season.
Availability changes depending on season and supply, so call ahead if you need something specific.

Need something specific? Order ahead
If you are planning a roast, BBQ, dinner party, family gathering or seasonal celebration, ordering ahead helps us prepare what you need.
We can help with larger quantities, specific cuts, roasting joints, BBQ meat, sausages, burgers, poultry, and game when available, as well as advice on portions and cooking.
For weekends, bank holidays and seasonal occasions, advance orders are recommended.

Ask us at
the counter
Good butchery is about helping customers choose well.
Ask us about the best cut for your recipe, how much meat you need per person, cooking times, budget-friendly options, slow-cooking cuts, roasting joints, BBQ choices, and what is fresh, seasonal or especially good that week.
The counter is there to be useful. If you are unsure, ask.
Quality, provenance and care
We care about the quality of the meat we sell and where it comes from.
Where possible, we work with trusted local and regional suppliers, focusing on good produce, clear provenance and animal welfare.
Some availability will change with the seasons, but the principle remains the same: meat should be carefully sourced and properly prepared.
We are also reducing plastic at the butcher’s counter with paper meat bags.
These are fridge and freezer safe, resealable and lined with food-grade, moisture-resistant material to help keep meat secure.
You are also welcome to bring your own clean containers from home.
Call ahead if you would like to know more about what is available that week.

Frequently asked questions
Stuart went out to meet Jess, from The Red Larder, who farms locally to find out more about the local grass-fed beef that she supplies to the shop. It was very interesting to learn more about the regenerative farming techniques.
